The Investment · From the Family

The questions you're too polite to ask us directly.

We would rather you hear this from us, honestly and gently, than wonder about it quietly. Here is how we work, what a celebration with us actually involves, and what shapes the investment — told the way we'd tell you in person, over tea, not the way a price list would.

01 · How We Work

What does "by application only" actually mean, and why do you work this way?

It means exactly what it sounds like: you tell us your story first, before anything else, and we read it ourselves, personally, before any conversation about dates or venues begins. We do not have an open calendar you can simply book into.

We work this way because a celebration built by two people stretched across many clients at once will always feel like it was built by two people stretched across many clients at once. We would rather hold fewer doors open and walk all the way through each one with the family on the other side of it.

What happens after I apply?

Nix or Tayne reads it, not a screening team, not a form-sorting algorithm. If your story feels like something we can bring to life the way it deserves, we reach out to begin a real conversation: who you are, what you are imagining, what this celebration means to the people it is for.

That conversation is where we start to understand each other, and where you start to understand us too. It is unhurried on purpose. Nothing about this process is designed to make you feel rushed into a decision.

How many celebrations do you take on each year, and why limit it?

A small number, deliberately. We have never published the exact figure because it isn't really about a quota, it is about a feeling: every family we work with should feel like theirs was the only celebration on our minds that season, even though it never truly is.

That kind of attention has a ceiling. We would rather protect the ceiling than raise it and quietly give everyone a little less of us.

Who will I actually be working with? Will it really be Nix and Tayne?

Yes. From your first accepted application to the final send-off, you have direct access to us, the founders, not a rotating coordinator or an account manager you meet once. Nix carries the instinct and the relationships built over decades; Tayne carries the invention, the systems, the Dream Builder platform that keeps everything transparent along the way.

You will, of course, meet the artisans, the florists, the technicians who bring the day itself to life, wonderful people we trust completely. But the two of us remain your one point of contact throughout, because we believe a family planning the most important days of their lives deserves to reach an actual person every time, not a ticketing system.

What if I apply and it isn't the right fit?

Then we will tell you honestly, and kindly, and as early as we possibly can. This has to be a mutual fit to work at all, we are not simply choosing you, you are choosing us too, and pretending otherwise would waste something precious on both sides: your time, and our full attention.

If it isn't the right fit this time, we will always tell you why with care, and we mean it when we say the door is never closed for good. Timing, budgets, and visions shift. We would rather part warmly now than build something that doesn't honestly serve you.

02 · Investment & What's Included

This is the part most couples are nervous to ask about directly, so we want to answer it as plainly and gently as we can.

Do you have packages or pricing I can see upfront?

No, and this is one of the more deliberate choices we have made as a house. A price list would ask us to describe your celebration before we have even met you, and every celebration we have ever built has turned out to be its own shape, never a template with a line-item total attached.

What we can promise instead is a real conversation, early, honest, and specific to what you are imagining, rather than a menu that would only ever describe someone else's wedding.

Is ICE expensive? What kind of investment are we talking about?

Yes, honestly, this is a significant investment, and we would rather say that plainly than let you find out later. We take on celebrations at this level because of what it actually takes to build one properly: decades of relationships that open doors no directory ever could, artisans we trust completely, and founders personally present rather than a large staff spread thin across many events.

We are not saying this to impress anyone, and we would never apologise for it either. It is simply what building a celebration this way costs, and we think that honesty matters more than either boasting about it or dancing around it.

What actually shapes the investment for a celebration?

Mostly the true scope of what you are imagining: how many guests are travelling to be with you, whether the celebration unfolds across one day or five, whether a villa needs to be held exclusively for your family alone, and how complex the travel and logistics become once we know where in the world your story is set.

None of these are hidden variables we spring on you later. We talk through all of them openly, together, before any number is ever discussed.

What does "handled start to finish" really include?

Everything between your first application and the moment your guests fly home, and often quite a bit before and after that too. Venue sourcing, vendor coordination, cultural consultancy where it matters, art direction, guest journey and concierge care, the day-of production, all held by us directly rather than handed between subcontractors you never meet.

The honest answer is: if it touches your celebration, we consider it ours to hold, whether or not it was written down anywhere in advance.

When and how do we talk about numbers?

Once we understand your story well enough to talk about it honestly, usually in the private conversation that follows an accepted application. We will ask real questions, guest count, ambitions, timeline, and give you a real, considered answer in return, not a placeholder figure meant to get you further into a process.

We would rather have that conversation once, properly, than negotiate it in pieces later.

03 · Practical & Logistics

What are the legal requirements for foreign couples marrying in Indonesia?

Indonesia does not currently register civil marriages between two foreign nationals on its own soil in the way many couples expect, so most international couples we work with hold a legal ceremony in their home country, either before or after travelling, and celebrate the ceremony itself here in Bali exactly as they envisioned it.

We walk every couple through exactly what this means for their specific nationalities early in the process, well before it could ever affect planning, and we coordinate directly with the right local authorities and legal counsel so this part of your story is handled quietly and correctly, without you needing to become an expert in Indonesian marriage law yourselves.

What is the best time of year to marry in Bali?

The dry season, roughly April through October, gives the most dependable light and weather, and it is when the island's golden hour performs at its most reliable. That said, some of the most beautiful celebrations we have built happened in the shoulder months, when the light turns even softer and the island is quieter.

We will always tell you honestly what a specific month means for your specific venue and vision, rather than simply steering everyone toward the same few weeks of the year.

How far in advance should we apply?

As early as the idea feels real to you, even before every detail is decided. Twelve to eighteen months ahead gives us the most room to secure the right villa or estate and build something with real care; multi-day cultural celebrations, especially, benefit from that extra runway.

We have built beautiful celebrations on shorter timelines too, when the fit and the availability aligned. Apply when you are ready, and we will tell you honestly what is possible from there.

How do you handle guest travel and accommodation?

This is where our concierge and guest journey work usually begins, often before the celebration itself is even fully designed. Private transfers, curated accommodation matched to each family rather than one block booking, and a dedicated point of contact for guests throughout their stay, not only on the day of the event.

For international guest lists especially, we think of this as part of the celebration itself, not a logistics footnote. The way your family is welcomed the moment they land shapes how the whole trip feels to them.

What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?

We build a considered contingency for every outdoor celebration, quietly, well before the day arrives, so that if the weather turns, the alternative still feels intentional rather than like a fallback. Bali's weather is generally kind in the dry season, but we never leave a family's most important day to chance.

This is one of the many things we take care of without needing to be asked. You should never find out about a weather plan by needing one in a panic.

04 · Culture & Ceremony

We're planning a multi-day Indian wedding — how does that actually work with ICE?

Beautifully, and with real reverence. Haldi, Mehendi, Sangeet, the Shaadi beneath a sunset mandap, and the Reception, we treat all five as one continuous story rather than five separate bookings, so the celebration builds across the days rather than resetting each morning.

We coordinate the full vendor network this requires, alongside cultural consultancy so each ritual is honoured correctly, and a guest journey that begins the moment families land, whether your gathering is fifty guests or five hundred.

How do you make sure cultural elements are handled authentically, not just decoratively?

By treating cultural correctness as a matter of respect, not a design preference. We work alongside cultural consultants and artisans who understand the meaning behind a ritual, not only its visual language, and we would rather ask a family a careful question in advance than guess at something that carries real weight for them.

A tradition borrowed for its beauty and stripped of its meaning is not something we are willing to build. If it matters to your family, it matters to us too.

Do you take on interfaith or multicultural celebrations?

Yes, and some of the celebrations closest to our hearts have been exactly this: two families, two traditions, one day built to honour both rather than asking either side to compromise quietly.

These celebrations take more listening than most, and we give them exactly that. The goal is never to blend traditions into something generic, it is to let each one be fully itself, in the same story.

Can you accommodate religious or ceremonial requirements specific to our faith?

We will always ask, listen, and build around what your faith or tradition genuinely requires, rather than assuming we already know. Where we do not have direct experience with a particular ceremonial requirement, we say so honestly and bring in the right guidance so it is still handled with proper care.

What we will never do is quietly simplify something sacred because it would be easier for us. That is not the kind of house we are.

What if our families have different expectations for the celebration?

This comes up more often than couples expect, and it is one of the quieter, more human parts of our work: finding the version of the day that lets both families feel genuinely seen, not merely accommodated.

We would rather have that conversation early and gently than let it surface as tension on the day itself. Often, the resolution isn't about choosing between two visions, it's about finding the third one that was there all along, once everyone felt heard.

Still Wondering Something?

If there's a question we haven't answered here, ask us directly. We would always rather you know than wonder.
